Among the competition in Friday's maiden race at Gulfstream is Chasing Artie, who drew the outside post and was assigned odds of 4-1. The We Miss Artie gelding has worked three bullets in a row. He clocked a four-furlong breeze from the gate at Gulfstream Park West in :48 3/5 April 1 and then another half-mile at the same track in :48 1/5 April 26. Moved to Palm Meadows, Chasing Artie completed a three-furlong work on turf May 3 in :35 4/5 to be the fastest of 11. "Chasing Artie is very nice. He's a homebred of Mr. (Ken) Ramsey's," Ward said. "He doesn't have the breeding that the Nyquist has, but he is big, fast, goodlooking, and forward. "Fortunately, in saying that he doesn't have the breeding, we were able to geld him because he was a little unruly, and it just mentally turned him right around. He's just a really, really talented guy." Two colts who have graded stakes-winning sib

Breeders' Cup Classic Bid an Option for Roaring Lion
Trainer John Gosden revealed that the Breeders' Cup Classic and Turf are options.
By David Milnes/Racing Post
The Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), run on dirt at Churchill Downs Nov. 3, is an option for Roaring Lion, trainer John Gosden revealed Sept. 23.
Speaking at the Newmarket Open Weekend, he said of the recent QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes (G1) winner: "I'm very happy with him, and we're pointing towards the (QIPCO) Champion Stakes (G1) at Ascot Oct. 20.
"The Breeders' Cup comes pretty sharply after Champions Day. If it was heavy, he wouldn't run at Ascot, but if it was good to soft, he'd run as he's won on it before. If he went to the Breeders' Cup, it could be the mile and a half on turf, or we could look at the Classic on dirt. He's a mile-and-a-quarter horse, so you'd consider the Classic as well as the Turf.
"The mile and a half around three bends is not that different to a stiff mile and a quarter uphill at Ascot."
Roaring Lion is 3-1 second favorite for the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T) and 16-1 for the Classic.
Stablemate Too Darn Hot, meanwhile, an impressive winner of the Howcroft Industrial Supplies Champagne Stakes (G2) last time, is likely to run in the Oct. 13 Darley Dewhurst Stakes (G1), Gosden confirmed.

It's Kitten's Joy's Roaring Lion In Eclipse Thriller 07/07/2018
Courtesy of the TDN
By Tom Frary
Saturday’s G1 Coral-Eclipse at Sandown threw up a barnstormer as Qatar Racing’s Roaring Lion (Kitten’s Joy) edged out old rival Saxon Warrior (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) to prevail by a neck and survive a subsequent lengthy stewards’ inquiry.
Freshened up after a busy period which culminated in a third placing in the June 2 G1 Epsom Derby, the 7-4 favourite was held up early by Oisin Murphy as Hawkbill (Kitten’s Joy) cut out the running. Delivered alongside Saxon Warrior two out, the grey gained a slight advantage soon after and despite veering right into the runner-up late on seemed to have command at the time. Cliffs of Moher (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) was 2 1/2 lengths behind in third.
“I thought he was always holding him,” winning trainer John Gosden said of the closely-scrutinised finish. “He’s run a great race and was wider than we wanted, but Oisin timed his run beautifully. I can’t believe how well they galloped out past the line and they’d only just arrived in the winner’s enclosure when they said ‘horses away’. This is his trip, we’ve always thought so and the problem with the Champion Stakes is it might be too soft then. He could get a mile and a half around three turns, so America could be the plan if it is soft over here then. I think he should stay in training in four, but that’s entirely up to the owners.”
